Traditional Chinese Medicine for Low Libido
A common ailment in Western society is low libido, impotence, and infertility.  People spend up to hundreds of thousands of dollars to conceive and pop little blue pills that cause side effects, including headaches and heart attacks.  There exists a holistic solution to solve this issue, it is called Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Traditional Chinese Medicine encompasses acupuncture and herbal therapy that treat the root and not the symptom.  When a patient comes into our clinic at Austin Acu Services, we do a detailed patient intake to determine whether low libido or infertility is attributed to kidney yin, yang, or essence deficiency (in TCM terms).  An acupuncture plan and herbal therapy solution is devised to treat the patient based on the differentiation of the root of the disease utilizing questioning, pulse taking, and tongue diagnosis.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Solutions to Low Libido, Infertility, Impotence

Kidney Yang
Most commonly, low libido, infertility, and impotence arise from kidney yang deficiency.  Other symptoms of kidney yang deficiency include:
soreness of the back
cold knees
sensation of cold in the back
aversion to cold
weak legs
weak knees
premature ejaculation
copious clear urination or scanty clear urination
edema (water retention) of the legs
infertility in women
loose stools

The tongue is usually pale, swollen and wet with a deep weak pulse.

Kidney Yin
Kidney yang is dependent on kidney yin.  When a patient has kidney yin deficiency, symptoms include:
dizziness, vertigo, poor memory, deafness, night sweating, 5 center heat (soles and palms), thirst
red cheeks
mental restlessness
feeling hot in the afternoon
scanty-dark urine
blood in the urine
dry throat - especially at night
sore lower back
nocturnal emissions with dreams
dry stools and/or constipation

The tongue is usually red-peeled or no coating, cracked, with a red tip with a rapid empty pulse.

Kidney Essence
Kidney essence is the material basis for healthy sexual function.  When there is diminished sexual function, usually essence is involved.  Kidney essence is also part of kidney yin.  When a patient has kidney essence deficiency, symptoms include:
softening of bones
weakness of knees and legs
poor memory
loose teeth
graying of hair and/or hair loss
diminished sexual activity

Acupuncture can be used to treat infertility, impotence, and low libido.
Common points used are:

Kidney 6 - tonifies kidney essence
Kidney 7 - tonifies kidney yang

A new technique involving acupuncture, called NAET (Nambudripad's Allergy Elmination Technique) utilizes kinesiology, chiropractic, and Oriental Medicine techniques to check sensitivities and allergies.  It can also be used to treat infertility, impotence, and low libido.

Generally, the first 15 vital nutrients are tested and treated, and then we move on to specific allergens. Most people with low libido have been found to be allergic to zinc while most women who are infertile have been found to be allergic to their partner's semen.
